It was with great expectation that I opened the new track from Zak's Stunts competition. I had heard rumours about it on the "forum" site saying that it was track with more than two ways. And I wasn't disappointed when I opened it and found that there are actually 6 different ways to drive this track. I will try to analyse all six ways.
The track opens with a paved road, a banked road and a jump. The classical way of getting your car to a higher speed and up through the gears. As soon as you come down from the jump, you can go left. If you weren't quite prepared for that, you can also continue and go left a few meters further down the road. If this does not appeal to you either, you can step on the gas-pedal and continue straight forward.
WAY #3
If you choose to continue straight forward, resisting all the temptations, you come to another banked road. At this point, you are likely to have reached a high amount of rpm in the 5th gear, and you think everything is going well when you see one of the infamous chicanes with "fast grass" ahead of you. You exploit the fast grass and come to a tunnel where you might have to slow down a little to avoid hitting the wall. Anyway this doesn't spoil your pleasure of driving so fast. The next tunnel does. It is on top of a hill, and you have to get down to the 2nd gear in order to survive through that tunnel. Very annoying. Having kept as high a speed as possible, you nearly fly over a little valley, and then jump upon a bridge. You see a jump ahead. Just after that jump, there is a sharp muddy corner. You have to brake well before that jump if you want to survive through that corner, nut Zak has made it hard for you to break because there are so many little jumps in that part. However, if you make it past that jump, you swiftly zigzag through the slalom jump and over the next jump. Not too fast though, because there is a corner right after the jump, and the car you drive in, the Ferrari GTO, sucks at corners. This is where you reunite with the main road. To sum up, this way is longer and faster in the beginning, but then you come to a near standstill in the end. It is quite fast, but it doesn't offer many chances of improvement once you've driven it without errors.
WAY #1
If you choose to go left the first time you are faced with the opportunity, the challenges you are meet are somewhat different. You go left, and the road is, again, straight. You go through a pipe and then come to a big jump. As you fly up in the sky, you are completely unaware that you will encounter a vertical corkscrew as soon as you land. In this part, you have to brake down before you start flying, otherwise you will crash into the wall in the corkscrew. Having gone all the way down to the 1st gear, you gotta stick close to the inner wall in the corkscrew and sneak down as quickly as you can. When you come down, there is a dirty corner ahead. There is no cutting it, since you have water on both sides. So it's a really frustrating and slow part of the track. After this corner, you better not be drunk, cause if you are, you will crash into one of the three slalom roads that come your way. The first two are quite annoying, since you haven't really gained full control over the car after the corner, but the third is not so hard. Then continue on the track and after having gone through a horizontal corkscrew that annoyingly ends in a right-turn which means you need a considerable slowdown, you join with the main part of the track. To sum up, this part of the track is shorter and includes more turning. Like the first way, it is fast in the beginning, but then you have to go slowly in the end. This way offers more possibilities to a good driver, and you have to know how to do corners. It is hard to drive this way perfectly, but I think it is slightly faster than the first one.
WAY #2
Should you choose to go left the second time you have the possibility, the first thing you see after having turned are pleasant chicanes and slightly annoying tunnels. You slide through the tunnels, nearly diagonally, and it's hard not to hit the walls when want you want to go as fast as possible here. The car steers awfully, but you can make it to the forthcoming hill at a decent speed, although you have to listen to some screeching here and there. That's Stunts. Having driven up that hill and seen the view, you will eventually decide you like this way, since there are no obstacles ahead. All you see is a beautiful bridge. So you drive on it, you're going fast now, and you come to a loop. This demands quite a lot of concentration. If you don't concentrate, you will probably make your first entry into the astronaut business or just hit the ground hard. Well, if you make it through the loop, you are nearly going top speed, and you are very pleased to see that the corner ahead is banked. But even though it is a banked corner, it is almost impossible to keep your speed while driving through it. As I mentioned in my last review, the Ferrari GTO is, together with the Corvette ZR-1, the worst car at steering at high speeds. So you do well to brake down here, seeing as how it would be completely useless anyway to keep your speed, since there is a jump coming followed by a dirty curve. Having frantically hit the brakes, you carefully steer through the dirty corner surrounded by water, and you see a long, liberating straightway ahead. Look at the clock. It all went so fast, but still you have used just as much time as you had when you drove the other ways. As you can clearly see on the map, this way is much longer than the others. Zak has made it exactly the right length so that you can only take advantage of the high speeds that this way offers, if you can achieve really high speeds. To sum up, this way is faster and longer, it demands more precision and concentration, and it is the small marginals that decide whether your time is good or bad. Like whether have to use the brakes in the first part with the tunnels and the chicanes or how well you take the corners.

When all three ways have joined together, the first thing you come to is a short boulevard. You don't have to think much to find out you have to take the left side. You can also achieve the jump effect quite easily here, but it does not do you much good, since you have to give up the speed in the dirty corner that comes next. In this corner, you do well to stay on the inner side, with one wheel in the water (this is Stunts, not real lifeJ). Then you are in a good position in the corkscrew that comes next, and you can go through it without braking. You then come to a jump, the speedometer tells you that you are going quite fast, so you merrily go over it and land on a dirty road. You have not driven on this road for long when you face another jump. Wisely, you shift into the 5th gear to achieve an extreme speed when you land on the other side, but it seems you drown in the middle of the boulevard if you just continue straight forward as fast as you can. So you have to go a little to one side when you jump. Not too much, because then you will end up in the water. When you have found the balance, you shoot on through the track, and the mere thought of stopping to go left in a dirty sharp corner doesn't even begin to speculate about the merest possibility of crossing your mind. You then come to a loop. The Stunts fan sees an opportunity to make an insane stunt here, but any sensible driver would just go through the loop, hit the brakes, and drive carefully through the last part of the track, which includes a(nother) dirty sharp corner and a slalom road. Then you can finally drive across the finish line. Should you choose to stop and turn after the boulevard, you will have to turn again just after, and then you come to a jump, which gives you the possibility of regaining some of the lost time by jumping to the finish line. All together, if you ask me, this is a hard track. Nearly every corner is full of dirt and water, and you don't get much rest in the track. Every part of it is more or less challenging, which is really quality. Another remarkable thing is how incredibly equal the different ways are. You find that the times you get if you drive equally well , are nearly identical. Compared to ZCT10, this track is much slower and technically challenging. You have to press a lot more buttons, and there is a lot of turning and braking to do. It seems nearly impossible to drive a perfect time for this track, so I think a month does not justify it. We can probably go on improving times till the end of the world, and I am looking forward to that. If you drive this track in the Porsche March Indy, which is again very tempting because of the Ferrari GTO's bad handling, you will get a time around 1:10, at least if you don't make too much of an effort. An average time for this track if you don't make too much of an effort would be about 1:33 or something. This is about 25% slower than the Indy time, which is not very much. You need skill, good judgement and persistence to get a good time at this track. The skill part is obvious. As I mentioned, this track is technically challenging and you have to know a lot about how to behave in the different Stunts and corners. You need good judgement in order to find the right way to go. Each one of them has its advantages and disadvantages. You also need to judge whether to do things the safe way or the crazy way. Usually it pays to do things the crazy way, but in tracks like this one, it is important not to waste too much time trying to make insane stunts, since as I mentioned earlier, we can go on improving times forever. You also need persistence, because even if you get a good time here, it is not good enough. There are so many little things in this track that can always be done a little better. It is those things that makes Roy Wiegerinck such a great driver. When you watch his replays, you can always see that every little part of the track is driven perfectly, not cutting any slack anywhere. Learn from that! And finally, there is lots of scenery here, it's beautiful. Awesome track! If there were 40 hours every day, I wouldn't spend them any other way J You need to drive this track a lot if you want to win this month….
